Until recently, I was a family law solicitor, and I worked predominantly in family and child law in Cork for over 20 years. During that time, I saw how valuable and positive it was to try, wherever possible, to negotiate outcomes for clients in dispute, as it was clear that agreements reached through discussion, negotiation and mutual compromise would generally be long lasting and successful agreements. Whilst not every case can be settled, talking gives rise to constructive and creative dialogue, and this often brings a fresh perspective and ultimately resolution to difficult issues. Mediated settlements tend to last, as there are positives and benefits for both sides- both sides ‘win’.
I decided to focus on mediation as an alternative to litigation. I qualified as a certified mediator and I founded Fastnet Mediation, based in Kinsale.
My goal is to provide a cost effective, supportive and timely mediation service. I believe that dialogue is key to successful outcomes , but I understand that dialogue isn’t always easy, particularly when relationships are under strain. That’s where mediation can help, to encourage and enable that dialogue. From my career in law, I’m also very aware of the complex and sensitive issues that can arise when family relationships break down, and I’m here to help, to walk you through the issues one by one, in a structured and supportive environment, to guide you.
I’m registered with the Mediators Institute of Ireland and with the Law Society of Ireland. I’m also a member of Cork Family Lawyers Association.
